PM5204: Regulations concerning transgender persons

] These regulations apply to all transgender persons.

] No transgender person may become or remain a member of a Great Order, unless the Great Order by special exception decides to permit their membership. Anyone who is a member of a Great Order, and who comes to identify as transgender, must leave their Great Order, unless by special exception it decides to permit them to remain

] No transgender person may be ordained as a priestess or priest, unless they have a special dispensation by decree of the authority. Any person who has been ordained as a priestess or priest, if they come to identify as transgender, will have their ordination cancelled, unless the authority decides by decree of special dispensation to exempt them from this provision. This provision does not apply to one who is ordained other than as a member of a Great Order, and who is only inwardly transgender, with no intention to manifest that outwardly

] A transgender person, who has chosen to transition to the other gender, or who intends to so transition in the future, may not be enamourated; however, one who inwardly identifies as the other gender, but who has no intention of outwardly transitioning, may be enamourated in an appropriate tribe: for the male who inwardly identifies as female, the third or fifth tribe; for the female who inwardly identifies as male, the fourth or fifth tribe; but in no case may any such person be enamourated in the first or second tribes. The authority may by decree of special dispensation exempt any person from this provision

] A transgender person, who has chosen to transition to the other gender, or who intends to so transition in the future, may be joined in the two lesser degrees of loving union, provided that the other party to that union knows and accepts their status as transitioned or their intention to transition; but there is no such requirement for knowledge or acceptance when there is an inward identity with no intention to express that outwardly

] In these regulations, the authority is in every case the Prophet-in-Council acting by decree, save when by decree it has delegated that authority

] Denigration of transgender persons is utterly prohibited. They are to enjoy the same rights as any cisgender person, save in those specific matters which these regulations address.

] Those with transgender identities are urged not to chase after blessing, but to trust in her promises; for in the life to come she may fulfil their deepest dreams in the fullness thereof, which in this life can be fulfilled at best partially. Those who, however, feel they are unable to follow this advice, are free to deviate from it, and must be accepted as initiates in good standing. The position of the Holy Maratrean Ecclesia is to be one of discouraging acceptance

] Intersex persons may be treated in the same way as those who are cisgender female or male, or they may be subjected to the disabilities of those who are inwardly or outwardly transgender, as is most appropriate in each individual case. The decision is made in each individual case after consulting the individual concerned, and considering whatever evidence is available. In the case of membership of a Great Order, the decision is a matter for the Great Order concerned; in every other matter, it is a question for the authority
