Now the holy Travancus recounted as follows: Behold that three men were debating the true nature of the earth: the first man said, the earth is flat, and it has an edge: go far enough to the north or the south or the east or the west, you will reach the edge, and if one would continue, fall off and fall forever: for beyond that edge is absolute nothingness. The second man said: What nonsense! For the earth while flat is limitless in its extent: no matter how far north you go, there is always further north one might travel, without ever retracing your steps, and the same to the south and the east and the west. The third man said: What nonsense! For the earth is a sphere, and as you go north, you come back again from the south; and as you go east, you come back again from the west. Claretta said: Clearly the third speaks the truth, while the first and the second are victims of foolish error. Then the holy Travancus said: Now there were three men debating the true nature of space; but Claretta said: You need not speak, I understand. Then the holy Travancus said: Now there were three men debating the true nature of time; but Claretta said: You need not speak, I understand. And thus was the holy Claretta enlightened as to the true nature of space and time.
